With a new century comes new challenges. A major trend of the new century is larger boats. Larger boats like the world class 20' x 100' houseboats which have begun to appear on Lake Ouachita, Arkansas, USA.

The Warman Family of Ouachita Shores Resort and Marina in Mt. Ida, Arkansas, saw the future of larger and larger houseboats on Lake Ouachita. That is when he called Atlantic-Meeco of McAlester, Oklahoma to meet the challenge - build a covered, floating dock large and sophisticated enough to accommodated world class houseboats up to 100 feet in length. Atlantic-Meeco's response - a 208' x 600' floating dock with half-hip roof. The dock provides [12] 70' slips and [32] 100' slips, all under one roof system. The basic design used is Atlantic-Meeco's long proven, fresh water, galvanized box truss system. This design has a proven history for strength and low maintenance requirements. The half-hip roof was chosen for its unique styling and also for its ability to keep the sun off the end slips. Longer and wider houseboats also mean taller houseboats. The new dock has a 24' eve height. Removable concrete deck panels, with exposed aggregate finish, were used to provide a strong, attractive, low maintenance surface.
These removable panels also give ready access to utilities. The type utilities necessary for houseboats with central air, dual baths, ice maker, trash compactor, full size refrigerator and range, microwave, big screen TV, stereo CD player, washer and dryer, computers, and yes even a fog machine. The dock also provides for individual patio decks with outdoor bars and cool relaxing areas.

Are The Warmans happy? You bet they are. "Its
a great dock, it is what we saw in our minds and Atlantic-Meeco
made it a reality". But as always the Warmans are already
working with Atlantic-Meeco on meeting the next challenge
in the continuing growth of Ouachita Shores. "If you want
to see the home of the largest covered slips in the county, you
are welcome to come visit Ouachita Shores Resort and Marina."
