WAVEWALL COMPLETED AT

BRADY MOUNTAIN

WaveWall at Brady Mountain

Lake Ouachita is known as one of the deepest, cleanest lakes in the United States. However, its wide-open waters can also deliver some aggressive waves. Ned and Vicky Bass, owners of Brady Mountain Resort and Marina, chose Atlantic-Meeco to design and build a wave attenuator to minimize the effects of waves within their marina.
We customized our new concept in wave attenuators to meet the specific needs of the facility. The result is a free-floating, 600' long structure that withstands a wave force of about 1-1/2 tons per foot.
The wavewall is anchored approximately every 24 feet. It absorbs wave energy and transfers it to the anchors. A unique center keel design with a 4' draft and flotation on either side helps minimize any rocking or tilting of the wall.
Oceanographic Studies Inc. of Groton, CT performed an analysis of the waves at the site, and Snowden Engineering of Tulsa, OK developed the structural design of the wavewall. The keel’s face is a steel plate and the wall itself is constructed of galvanized steel truss members.
For Ned and Vicky Bass, the project has lived up to their expectations. Ned Bass said, “The wavewall has done everything Atlantic-Meeco said it would do.” In fact they plan to work with us again this fall on a marina expansion. Brady Mountain Resort is located about 11 miles west of Hot Springs in Royal, AR.
