Rock Harbor: Another Job Well Done
Rock Harbor Marina

Past experiences were the deciding factors in choosing an expansion contractor at Rock Harbor Marina on the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee. When owner/manager Terry Mills decided that he needed to add a fuel dock, covered slips and a floating building, he chose Atlantic Meeco to carry out the work.

"I'm very pleased with AMI's work," Mills says. "Atlantic Meeco has completed four projects here in four years. They do quality work and always meet the deadlines. I'm very satisfied."

The most recent project at Rock Harbor uses the Meeco System of inland floating docks and platforms. The addition includes a floating building and a fuel dock that showcase concrete deck panels with exposed aggregate finish for long life and sure footing. Treated, #1 yellow pine decking is used on the 8ft x 24ft and 8ft x 36ft fuel docks, as well as the 12 new 14ft x 30ft slips.

On the platform, an 18ft x 18ft building now houses a courtesy office/store and restroom. All dock structures and accessories, including columns and purlins, are hotdip galvanized. The roof's structural liveload is 20 psf.

The flotation system at Rock Harbor utilizes marine-bonded, low-absorption permacase floats that resist damage from petroleum products and marine life. The floats' buoyancy is not affected by punctures, and they resist damage by ice or snow. A winch and cable system provides anchoring.

In addition to the beautiful country surroundings, Rock Harbor features a floating restaurant, a boat parts and service facility, and dry storage.
